Metro DC CLUW is proud to support the Boycott Target Campaign. Locally and nationally, CLUW has a longstanding history of standing for inclusion, diversity and social justice. At the start of the second Trump administration we witnessed Target abandon these commitments, capitulating to an administration that has made racism and discrimination part of its national policy. We recognize that the abandonment of these commitments is a betrayal of trust to Black, women, LGBTQIA+ working class people, and other historically marginalized groups that have long fueled Target's profits, and reflects a broader pattern of corporate backlash against equity efforts across the country.
The members of Metro DC CLUW are committed to following the leadership of Black faith, civil rights and community organizers who have organized this national effort to demonstrate the power of our collective action when corporations choose profit and bigotry over the people. Boycott Target DC has been instrumental at keeping this campaign alive in our region and notably maintaining an active weekly picket line since late March 2025.
We urge our members and allies to refrain from shopping at Target or using Target's digital platforms until such time as the company publicly recommits to its diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
