DMV Tradeswomen

Metro DC CLUW is proud to be the latest partner to join the DMV Women in Construction Coalition! This dynamic coalition was founded by IUPAT DC 51's Rochelle Ramsey-Walker and includes as partners IUPAT DC 51, the DC Chapter of LCLAA and DC Jobs with Justice.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to create a safe space and a platform to celebrate, support and unify women in construction within the DMV area. Our goal is to recruit, mentor, retain and develop women leaders who ultimately can affect change to improve wages and benefits, working conditions and the overall experience of women in male-dominated industries; in addtion, providing a platform of resources that affect women including information about childcare, community events, training, work opportunities, and more. This initiative looks to empower and strengthen women who recognize the barriers working in male-dominated fields but have the desire to help build a capacity of women in this industry and inspire the next generation of women.

DMV Tradeswomen in Action

On Saturday, August 12 Metro DC CLUW attended the DMV Tradeswomen's first ever Heartbeats to Hardhats event. This event brought women in construction and their children together to work on fun and engaging building projects.
